Experience the remote wilderness of Wild Japan!

Wild Japan!

October 25 – November 5, 2021

Join Tropical Ice’s special departure later this year with Iain and Alex, and experience the remote wilderness of Japan’s southern island, Kyushu. This magnificent journey will take us along the ancient pilgrimage trails of the Kunisaki peninsula. We will pass Buddhist and Shinto temples and shrines along the way, and enjoy the breathtaking landscape of this fascinating region.

Our journey begins in Kyoto where we will see the spectacular Kinkakuji (Golden Pavilion) and partake in an authentic tea ceremony. We then board the Shinkansen (Bullet train), and head southwards to Kyushu, to the start of our hike. On our last trip, we didn’t see another foreign tourist for ten days!

Overnight stops will be in atmospheric traditional Japanese inns, all of which are built on hot springs.

Our group will be a small one, maximum of 8 people (6 spaces remaining).
