African Safari to Mt. KilimanjaroTravel removes us from the trials and frequent “pointlessness” of everday life. To experience an unfamiliar landscape, and see its beauty through eyes often less fortunate than ours, enables us to question our own importance in the grand scale of things.

The story of Tropical Ice has been an exhilarating journey. It began in 1978 with trips to the high icy peaks of Mount Kenya, and quickly moved to the gentler inclines of Kilimanjaro. Then, onwards to the most isolated regions of East Africa's greatest wilderness-Tsavo. We started the whole idea of "adventure travel" in East Africa, and somehow over the years we’ve successfully managed to retain the word "adventure" in all that we do.

A lot of people travel to Africa these days to experience the latest design in chic safari lodge or hotel camp, most of whom are competing to see which can outdo the other in achieving the ultimate goal - the best "Out Of Africa" movie set reproduction. Sadly, for many the carefully carved out lodge swimming pool has in recent years attained greater importance than the elephant silently drinking from the secluded waterhole three miles away.

Kids on African SafariThe whole point of Tropical Ice is that our guests will never feel divorced from the reality of Africa. You will find yourselves in remote camps, living in complete comfort, eating the finest food, accompanied by the best guides in the business. We will do our best however, to never let you lose sight of the fact that our camps are merely a functional requirement for allowing you the opportunity to intimately see the wildlife and beauty of unspoiled Africa, which we feel is the real reason for embarking on a safari.

If you're looking for a journey which will remove you to a safe place thousands of miles from the irritations of every day life, where you will experience on foot and by vehicle, the last great wildlife species on our planet, set against the vast landscapes of Africa, then you may have to look no further than Tropical Ice. It's possible we can do even better than this...we'll work hard at giving you a learning experience you'll never forget.
